Purpose:
The Board of Supervisors on April 8, 1969, approved the recommendation of the Citizen Economy & Efficiency Committee which provided for the creation of an Architectural Evaluation Board whose purpose is to:
- Assist the Board of Supervisors in selecting the most qualified architectural firms for the design of County capital projects.
Power and Duties:
- To prepare and maintain a file of architectural firms who have requested consideration for County work.
- To submit a recommended list of architectural firms to the Director of Public Works for each capital project which the County has deemed will be contracted to an outside firm. The Board of Supervisors or the Director of Public Works will approve the selection of the architectural firm.
- To formulate with the Board of Supervisors the general key policies and procedures under which it will operate.
- Establish the criteria and appropriate categories for the listing of architectural firms for County contracts.
Staffing:
The County will furnish the AEB with all data available in its records relative to the responsibilities of the AEB. The AEB shall have the right to call upon the County for services which it may require in its studies prior to its recommendations to the Board of Supervisors.

Officers:
The officers of the AEB shall be a Chairman who shall be appointed by the majority vote of the members. The AEB may have such other officers as the members deem expedient. The officer(s) shall be elected annually by the members and each officer shall hold office until his/her successor shall have been duly elected or until his/her death or until he/she shall resign. A vacancy in any office may be filled for the unexpired portion of the term by majority vote of the members. The Chairman shall preside at all meetings and shall approve all matters to go on the agenda for regular meetings or any special meetings.

Designees:
There shall be no designees or alternate members.
Quorum:
A quorum for conducting business at meetings shall consist of four members.
Procedure:
Unless otherwise specified by the members of the AEB the conduct of meetings shall be in accordance with these Bylaws.
Amendments:
New Bylaws may be adopted or these Bylaws may be amended or repealed by a majority vote of AEB.
Term of Office:
Term of office for members of the AEB will be four (4) years. Professional members of the AEB shall be prohibited from doing work for the County during their term of office and for one year thereafter.
