This Simple Permit Application and Tracking System (SPATS) is LA County's first true e-commerce permit system. Customers can now apply, pay for, and receive permits online instantly - eliminating a visit to the Public Works' permit office.
The SPATS website is designed to be user-friendly so that Utility Companies, Trucking/Transportation companies, DPW Permit Office staff, and the general public can easily apply for and track their relevant permits. The system also provides an easy way to get answers to their frequently asked questions (FAQ's).
SPATS automatically reviews permit applications to determine compliance with legal requirements, reducing the number of manual reviews by 80%. Since it's inception, about 98% of transportation permits have been issued without the customer having to come in to one of our offices. This increase in efficiency has allowed Public Works to reduce permit fees by $2-thereby saving the customer both time and money.
