Household Hazardous Waste

Household hazardous waste is any leftover product labeled toxic, poison, corrosive, flammable, combustible, or irritant, that you want to discard. Find out more at our Household Hazardous Waste website.

Reuse Center

A Reuse Center is a place where residents can pick up unused or partially used products that have been taken to a Los Angeles County operated Household Hazardous Waste Permanent Center. These products include household cleaners, lawn and garden care, paint, and more.

Mobile Collection Events

Do you have old paint, oil, cleaners, televisions, or electronics that you're not sure what to do with? Dispose of these items properly at a FREE Household Hazardous/Electronic Waste (HHW/E-Waste) Collection Event near you - there's one almost every weekend around L.A. County.

Permanent Collection Centers

All residents of Los Angeles County may utilize the City of Los Angeles S.A.F.E. permanent collection centers (various), the Antelope Valley Environmental Collection Center (in Palmdale) or EDCO Recycling and Transfer Center (in Signal Hill) to properly dispose of HHW/E-Waste FREE of charge.

Paint Recycling

California residents and businesses can now recycle leftover paint for free at local retail stores. For program details and locations, visit www.PaintCare.org or call 855-724-6809.

Sharps Waste Management Program

State law makes it illegal for residents to dispose of home-generated sharps waste in the trash. To learn how to safely manage and properly dispose of sharps waste, click here.

Battery Collection Program

Common batteries such as AA, AAA, C cells, D cells and button cell batteries (e.g. hearing aid batteries) may contain a corrosive chemical that can cause burns. For proper disposal, click here.

Reusable 1 LB. Propane Cylinder

Single-use cylinders are dangerous. When “empty,” single-use cylinders often still contain a small amount of gas, posing a danger to sanitation workers due to the risk of explosions and resulting fires. Used Motor Oil and Filter Collection Program

Recycle your used motor oil and used oil filters at a County sponsored event or a permanent collection center.
