Locating Feedstock
Feedstock can vary in specifications, quantity, and reliability of source. And, although finding these manufacturing materials may prove challenging, the County's RMDZ Program can help by facilitating communication between companies looking for the same materials or establishing relationships between complementary businesses. For more information on feedstock sources or locations at which you can post your materials, visit the following sites.
Marketing Your Products
Marketing is important to the success of any company. If your company produces products made from recycled-content materials, it may be listed on the CIWMB's directories.
Identifying Your Business Site
Siting is an important aspect of establishing a business. In order to maximize your position, your business site should be located close to your feedstock source and situated in an area that offers "built-in" incentives. These incentives can come in the form of zones, including Recycling Market Development Zones, Enterprise Zones, and Redevelopment Zones, as well as others. For more information on siting, contact the County's Zone Administrator or visit the following sites:
Obtaining Permits
Sometimes knowing where to look for the necessary business permits can be a chore. The State has a site for helping you find your way. Simply select the type of business you are interested in siting and provide some general information regarding your business' location, and you can gain access to a list of agencies you can call for information and compliance rules.
Providing Financial Assistance
If capital is what you need, there are plenty of sources to help you. One source for information on loans is the Los Angeles County Community Development Commission. The RMDZ Revolving Loan Program can also assist businesses that use waste materials to manufacture new products. To date, the CIWMB has funded an estimated $75 million. See the RMDZ Loan Program for more information.
