About EDCO


Items accepted at the EDCO Recycling and Transfer Collection Center include unwanted non-controlled pharmaceuticals, needles and syringes, antifreeze, car batteries, cleaning supplies, cosmetics, used motor oil, pesticides, household batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, TVs, computers, VCRs, stereos, and cell phones. Residents can bring up to 15 gallons or 125 pounds of HHW per vehicle. We do not accept: Household Hazardous and electronic waste from a business, explosives, ammunition, marine flares, radioactive materials, controlled substances, trash and tires, and white goods (refrigerators, stoves, washing machines, etc.

The Center is located in one of Los Angeles' most densely populated areas and will serve as a convenient outlet for all county residents to safely dispose of hazardous waste.
The Center provides a free, convenient and environmentally safe method for County residents to drop-off HHW/E-Waste free of charge. The center is located at EDCO Recycling and Transfer Center, 2755 California Ave, in the City of Signal Hill. It is open the second and fourth Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. EDCO will be closed the following dates: 1/13/24; 3/23/24; 5/25/24; 10/12/24; 11/9/24; and 12/28/24.


Background

On March 7, 2013, Los Angeles County 4th District Supervisor Don Knabe joined state and local officials, at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the County's second permanent Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) and Electronic Waste (E-Waste) Collection facility located at EDCO Recycling and Transfer Collection Center in Signal Hill. The center is a collaborative effort between the County, the cities of Long Beach and Signal Hill, EDCO, CalRecycle, and the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County.
