Question:
RE: your website: http://dpw.lacounty.gov/epd/HHW/batteries/sites.cfm
I've heard conflicting advise to apply or not apply black electricians TAPE to one or more terminals on all batteries being disposed of. I`ve heard it's a fire hazard as the contacts come into contact with the metal cases of other batteries in a recycle bin, and if they have any juice left in them they short~circuit and burn. And I've also heard that's just an old tale. Do you have instructions to insulate the battery terminals, or not?
Answer:
The Department of Transportation has issued a Safety advisory letter. Please see attached link. Thank you for visiting CleanLA.
