Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Question:
I seem to be a bit confused about how to use your web site. I was wondering how to find tract maps by number. For example tract # 11439?
Would you please help me with this? The apn number 3101-016-008. When I put that in the tr numbers do not match.

Answer:
The search function located on the bottom of our Tract and Parcel Map sites is to search for documents using the Los Angeles County Recorder's Book and Page numbers, which are assigned to every Tract and Parcel Map. There is no correlation between the County Recorder's Book and Page and the County Assessor's Parcel Identification Numbers (AIN/APN). Using your example; AIN 3101-016-008, the correct Map Book and Page for Tract 11439 would be MB205-014 as shown on the Assessor's Map.

Currently, there is no comprehensive index available for Parcel and Tract Maps that will allow for a reverse search. We rely on the Los Angeles County Assessor's Maps for Tract and Parcel searches. Tract and Parcel map information can generally be found either in the lower portion of the Assessor's map or overlaid on the parcels themselves.

Under the main Parcel and Tract Map pages we have provided a link to the Los Angeles County Assessor's site for your convenience.

On the interactive map:
When researching for Parcel Maps and Tract Maps specifically there are options in the upper left corner of the interactive map to search using address, intersection, assessor's parcel number, document book and page, or Parcel and Tract Map numbers.
