Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Question:
Crews fixing underground pipes are "destroying" our roads, the miserable patch job they do after they cover the hole is unsafe to drive on and damage vehicles. Please have them Pave the road rhe right way. We are taxpayers and deserve to have our roads fixed properly.

Answer:
Thank you for reporting your concern to us through “The Works” application.

The construction work you refer to is a San Gabriel Water project to install new water service lines in the roadway. When the trench is backfilled, it is standard construction practice to apply a temporary base coat of asphalt. This temporary coat may not be smooth but allows vehicles to use the roadway until the final pavement restoration is completed. The contractor will be required to restore the pavement within the work zone to original or better condition resulting in an equal or better ride quality.

If you have any additional questions regarding the road condition or this project, please contact the Baldwin Park Permit Office at 626-338-9515.
