Ensuring
safe, maintainable public infrastructure improvements are designed and constructed in Los Angeles County is the mission of Land Development.
In addition to guiding orderly development and land divisions, we are also the clearinghouse for recording maps in the
County of Los Angeles as well as for Public Works review of environmental documents and inter-agency projects.
Divided into seven sections and units, the Land Development Division has approximately 70 staff members assigned to professional, technical, and clerical responsibilities. Engineers, land surveyors, planners, and engineering survey technicians provide services such as map checking, bond processing, subdivision plan checking, transportation planning, subdivision review and CEQA compliance.
Land Development Division’s activities are among the foundations for orderly growth and appropriate infrastructure planning in the County. We take pride in our ability to interact with a wide range of constituents and provide consistent, high quality, professional service that makes possible the subdivision of land and the construction of proper public infrastructure.
