The Dominguez Channel begins just south of Imperial Highway in the City of Carson

After a short stretch under 120th Street in the City of Hawthorne, the channel
reappears near the Crenshaw Park and Ride

In its uppermost reaches the channel has a simple rectangular cross section.

Near Redondo Beach Boulevard, the Dominguez Channel cross section changes slightly
to include a low flow trapezoidal channel.

Seen here near Western Avenue in the City of Torrance, the Dominguez Channel carries
small flows year round from permitted discharges and urban runoff

At the intersection of Vermont Avenue and Artesia Boulevard near the Artesia Park
and Ride, the cross section of the channel transitions from rectangular to trapezoidal.
From this point to its opening at the Los Angeles Harbor, the channel experiences
tidal influence.
