Virtual Tour of the Los Angeles and Long Beach Harbors
The Alameda Corridor, a major rail construction project that runs through
the southern portion of the Dominguez Watershed, will link the Ports of Los
and Angeles and Long Beach to downtown Los Angeles.
The ports of Los Angles and Long Beach occupy over 10,500 acres of land and water.
$95 billion in trade, including the equivalent of 4.5 million 20-foot cargo container
units, moved through the Port of Long Beach in 2001.
The Port of Los Angeles includes 29 major cargo terminals, including facilities to handle
automobiles, containers, dry bulk products and liquid bulk products. Its six modern
container facilities together handle in excess of four million units of cargo containers
annually.
Considered as one oceanographic unit, the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach are among
the world's busiest seaports.
