New Water Service Installations for Builders/Developers
The subject information pertains to the following types of inquiries:

    1. Changes in size or location of an existing water service or meter.
    2. Installation of new water service to individual properties or to Subdivisions (Tracts or Parcel Maps) with no previous water service.

Change to an existing water service:

For a change in the size or location of an existing water meter or service connection, please complete the Waterworks District Information Sheet (Form WW 172 and WW 174) and return it to our local office in Lancaster or Malibu or main office in Alhambra for review. For a request to reduce the size of a current water meter of an existing account, please complete the Meter Reduction - WW 171 and return it to the local office in Lancaster or Malibu for review. To increase the size of an existing water meter and/or service connection, follow the "new water service" procedures.

New water service:

For new water service to properties, please provide the information requested on the Waterworks District Forms (New Service Connection - WW 172, Fixture Unit Determination - WW 174, Summary of Water Demands - WW 190, Customer Order Form - DPW 92-0004, copy of Grant Deed, Fire Department’s requirements, a plot plan, and subdivision requirements as applicable). A copy of the above forms is available at any Waterworks District Office or a PDF copy is available on this website.

For Registered Civil Engineers preparing water plans for water system improvements, the Waterworks District has Title Sheets and Plans Sheets in AutoCAD format or Microstation format available on the Forms/Reports/Standard Plans/CADD Sheets page on this website. Waterworks Standard Plans located electronically on this website or a hard copies is available at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works Standard Plan Manual available for purchase at the Cashier’s Office, 900 South Fremont Avenue, Alhambra, CA 91803, (626)458-6959.

For annexation into the Waterworks District, please contact the Local Agency Formation Commission for the County of Los Angeles (LAFCO).
