Building and Safety Services: How do I schedule an inspection?

Inspection scheduling is done by calling the local Building and Safety Office that issued the permit for the work being performed. You may call that office during regular working hours to schedule an inspection. The regular working hours for each office vary so check with your office or with the "local offices" section of this site for the hours of operation. All inspection requests must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Inspections are only performed during regular working hours and days. However, the earlier in advance you call, the better chance you have at securing the day that best fits your schedule. Inspections do not take place on County Holidays.

When you call, provide the following information:

  • Address of the site where the inspection will occur
  • The type of inspection needed
  • If available the Permit number which can be found in the upper right corner of the permit
  • A contact name and phone number where we can call back should there be a delay

To determine when your inspection will occur, call the issuing office the morning of the scheduled inspection and ask to speak to the inspector assigned to your project. The inspector can give you a time window of when they will be arriving onsite.

For more detailed information, please contact the Building and Safety Office responsible for your project.
