WASTE TIRE COLLECTION EVENT

On Saturday, February 22, 2003, the County of Los Angeles conducted a free waste tire collection event in the City of Whittier at a middle school. On a clear day, event workers awaited waste tires to roll in. Large empty collection bins were ready to be stacked with tires. Residents arrived by car, truck and motorcycle to participate and drop off their scrap tires to be recycled. Large empty collection bins were soon filled with over 450 tires. These tires will be recycled and made into rubber asphalt pavement and into other uses and products.
