Teams of trained engineers working under professional supervision carry on the work of Los Angeles County Public Works. A Civil Engineering Assistant (CEA) may be responsible for the following essential functions: assist in the performance of detailed civil engineering work related to the design, location, construction and maintenance of Public Works structures, facilities, or projects. Work assigned to CEAs engineers is considered qualifying by the California State Board of Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers for participation in registration examinations.

Requirements: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a civil engineering curriculum approved by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

Civil Engineering Assistant Salary: $80,482.92 - $92,311.24 Annually.

Employees assigned to the Alhambra headquarters building are usually placed on a four day, forty hour workweek. Other field facilities offer a 9/80 or a five day, forty hour workweek.
