What is the Smart Business Recycling Award?

The Smart Business Recycling Program provides recycling resources for businesses, multi-family properties, and schools located in the Los Angeles County Unincorporated Areas looking to establish or expand on existing recycling practices. The Smart Business Recycling Award recognizes businesses in Los Angeles County that excel in recycling, waste prevention and reuse, environmental leadership, and other sustainable solid-waste practices.

Winners will receive an appealing, personalized plaque and a bonus prize!

Who Can Apply?

Awards are open to all businesses located in unincorporated County and multi-family dwellings.

Businesses must be in compliance with the Mandatory Commercial Recycling Law AB 341, which requires businesses that generate 4 cubic yards or more of solid waste (trash) per week and multi-family properties with 5 units or more to arrange for recycling services. Businesses must also be in compliance with the Mandatory Organic Recycling Law AB 1826, which requires businesses and multi-family properties that generate 4 cubic yards or more of solid waste (trash) to arrange for organic recycling services.

Application and Review Process

Click on “Download PDF Application” below to apply. Complete the Company Overview and all additional sections that are relevant to your business. Businesses are not required to complete all sections. Businesses may attach up to five pages of supportive documents. Applications will be reviewed and scored based on the success of programs that have been implemented and described in this application. The winners will be notified directly and will have the option to be recognized on our website.

Applications are valid for one year from submittal. Applicants may resubmit at any time if their program changes.
