What regulations govern aircraft noise at and around airports in California?
A:
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, an acceptable noise level for residential use is 65 CNEL (Community Noise Equivalent Level in decibels) which is a cumulative measurement of ambient noise. Neither historically nor currently are there any residences or businesses surrounding the County-owned airports exposed to 65 CNEL or greater as a result of aircraft activity.
