Airport Projects
Brackett Field Airport
On behalf of the Airport Land Use Commission (ALUC), the Department of Regional Planning (DRP) is developing an Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan (ALUCP) for Brackett Field Airport. The ALUCP will set forth land use compatibility policies applicable to future development in the vicinity of the Airport. The policies will be designed to ensure that future land uses in the surrounding area will be compatible with potential long-range aircraft activities at the Airport, and that the public’s exposure to safety hazards and noise impacts are minimized. Once adopted, these policies will provide the basis by which the ALUC can carry out its land use development review responsibilities in accordance with State Law.

An approved Airport Layout Plan (ALP) with narrative is required for all public airports that receive state or federal funding. Brackett Field Airport ALP is outdated and does not meet current standards. The County received a planning grant for additional projects that were not listed on prior ALP's. This will include, but not limited to: major pavement repairs to the runways, taxiways, ramp/apron areas, and other future capital improvement projects. The project narrative will update the airport inventory and forecast. Public Works Aviation Division as-needed airport planning consulting firm is currently working on the ALP update and it is anticipated to be completed by September 2015.

This project is to remove and replace the existing public restroom facility located at the aircraft washing area at the eastern end of Brackett Field Airport. The existing public restroom facility is a modular trailer type structure, is over 30 years old, in poor condition, and has reached the end of its useful life. Restroom facilities are essential at this location of the airport as they serve the various users of the aircraft washing facilities, as well as the numerous airport tenants and visitors on the eastern end of the airport. The new public restroom facility comprised of a prefabricated concrete block building of approximately 200 square feet, which will have a smaller overall footprint than the current public restroom facility. In addition to the new building, the project will include the grading of the site, the installation of a concrete foundation, and replacement of the existing fixtures, water, sewer, and electrical lines to the site. Public Works Aviation Division and the County Internal Services Department has solicited for construction bids. Construction will commence by summer 2015 and it is anticipated to be completed by September 2015.
